Bernardo M. Villasenior
Analytics Specialist
Bernardo M. Villaseñor brings more than 25 years of advancement analytics experience to his work with Alexander Haas clients. A pioneer in applying data science and predictive modeling to nonprofit fundraising, Bernardo has spent his career transforming the way advancement teams understand their donors, manage their portfolios, and plan for transformational campaigns. His expertise spans the full analytics lifecycle — from prospect identification and capacity modeling to CRM architecture, dashboard development, and ethical AI adoption — making him a uniquely versatile resource for institutions committed to data-driven advancement.
Bernardo has spent nearly two decades at Emory University, where he has risen to Senior Director of Advancement Analytics. In that role, he has led the development of Emory’s most widely used Power BI dashboard, giving more than 200 users real-time visibility into pipeline performance, portfolio strength, and campaign progress. He redesigned the institution’s annual planning and goal-setting processes, compressed a 140-step portfolio review workflow into a live-access dashboard, and guided Emory’s transition to the VERAS CRM platform — ensuring continuity across prospecting, portfolio management, and executive reporting. He also championed the responsible integration of AI through Emory’s inaugural Innovation Lab, producing a long-term roadmap that has shaped both institutional culture and future cost savings. Prior to his analytics leadership role, Bernardo served as Emory’s Director of Prospect Management for nearly 18 years, designing and building the university’s first comprehensive prospect management system from the ground up and generating more than 2,000 data projects and reports since 2013.
Before joining Emory, Bernardo served as Manager of Research at Agnes Scott College, where he oversaw a high-volume research operation and introduced predictive modeling techniques that anticipated 70% of new donors — a breakthrough achievement at the time. He began his career in Mexico City as Assistant Director of Development for the Asociación de Amigos del Templo Mayor, the fundraising arm of one of Mexico’s most visited archaeological museums, where he built the organization’s first CRM and introduced data analytics to guide revenue strategy. A respected voice in the field, Bernardo has presented at 17 national, regional, and local conferences — including APRA International, CASE, and Ellucian — and served as a judge for the International CASE Awards for Innovation and Analytics.
Outside of his work in advancement, Bernardo is deeply connected to his community and his roots. He holds a B.S. in Economics from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and completed executive education in AI and Machine Learning at Emory’s Goizueta Business School. He has called the Atlanta area home for more than two decades and remains passionate about the intersection of technology, culture, and mission-driven work.
