Alexander Haas Philanthropic Contributions and Matching Gifts Program

Practicing What We Preach

Alexander Haas Matching Gifts Program is another example of how We Practice What We Preach. Our gift-giving program focuses on supporting our staff’s philanthropic interests. From public and private schools, colleges and universities, museums and other cultural organizations, social services, environmental and international organizations, our firm matches contributions of $50 or more dollar-for-dollar. Since we established this program, the firm has contributed thousands of dollars to a wide variety of causes.

Here’s a glimpse inside our Team’s commitment to our home town.

David King currently serves as Board Chair for the First Presbyterian Preschool, a school of 250 students located in Midtown. He has a long history of involvement with the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta where he serves on the Designated Giving Committee. David is on the Board of the Georgia Council on Economic Education and serves on their Development Committee. He has also served on the Development Committee of St. Martin’s Episcopal School in Brookhaven. David is also an accomplished wood artist and has donated his pieces to several schools and nonprofits for silent auction.

Jim Hackney is a staunch supporter of the Arts Leadership League of Georgia (ALL-GA). This organization is a non-partisan, nonprofit advocacy group working to strengthen arts and culture in Georgia. Jim currently serves on the Board.

Judy Anderson’s volunteer commitments have centered on her children’s activities, as she has been a soccer mom, equestrian mom, skateboard mom, chorus mom, and lacrosse mom. Judy is a member of the President’s Toastmaster Club of Cobb County and volunteers for Atlanta Celebrates Photography.

Jerry W. Henry spends his “free time” volunteering for various activities at his parish, the Cathedral of St. Philip (Episcopal). He volunteers monthly on the Altar Guild and is completing a three year term as chair of the Friends of Cathedral Music. In January, he will move from President-elect to President of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Additionally, he volunteers with AID Atlanta and is the Atlanta representative for the Yale University Divinity School Alumni organization.

Sandra Kidd is actively engaged in children’s causes and in historic preservation. She has been involved in the Junior League and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Atlanta. Sandra helped to found the Atlanta Chapter of First Book, a national program that provides books to children and their families. She is also a committee member of the High Museum of Art’s Wine Auction, which ranks every year as one of the top ten charity wine auctions nationwide.

Heather Harris volunteers for H.E.R.O. for Children, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Heather is a member of the Junior League of Atlanta and is a substitute teacher for TEOFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), which provides educational classes for children.
