Carl Hamm joined Alexander Haas in 2019 and serves primarily museums and cultural organizations, bringing 40 years of experience in nonprofit senior management, development, external affairs, and consulting to clients of varying size, type, and location across the country.
Before joining the firm, Carl served for eight years as deputy director for development and external affairs at the Saint Louis Art Museum. He has held chief development and senior roles at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the Dallas Museum of Art, and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, following earlier work in the performing arts.
Carl has held CFRE accreditation since 1998. He is a past president of the Art Museum Development Association, a past chair of the American Alliance of Museums’ Standing Professional Committee on Development and Membership, and a past chair of AAM’s Council of Standing Professional Committees. He has served on the Giving USA Editorial Review Board and the Texas Association of Museums board. His writing includes a chapter in the Rowman & Littlefield volume on museums and fundraising, articles in AAM Museum Magazine, and a manuscript review for a Routledge book on fundraising in museums. He has written and presented widely over the past three decades, including a keynote by invitation for the Arts Council of England in Cambridge and at conferences for the American Alliance of Museums, the Art Museum Development Association, the Association of Science and Technology Centers, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and PBS.
