Jane M. Barthothi

Jane has spent 25 years in nonprofit and higher education advancement roles, most recently as the Vice Chancellor of Advancement at Appalachian State University.  Appalachian State saw its largest fundraising year in university history under Jane’s leadership.  In addition, Jane instituted a full fundraising metric system and increased the foundation’s endowment by fifty percent during her tenure.

Jane previously served as Executive Director of Development at the University of Georgia. She was part of the leadership team that led the $1 billion Commit to Georgia comprehensive campaign.  In addition, she worked closely with the State Botanical Garden of Georgia to build the Deen Day Sanders Porcelain and Decorative Arts Museum, a multi-million dollar project dedicated to porcelain highlighting nature, history and botanical pieces.

Jane has also worked in fundraising roles at the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business and the University of Wyoming. At the University of Wyoming, Jane focused on frontier and rural healthcare, highlighting the need for health professionals throughout the state. This included engaging and partnering with individuals, foundations, corporations and healthcare advocacy groups in and around the mountain west.  

Jane holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Appalachian State University and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of South Carolina. Jane is a native of Charlotte, NC and currently lives in Boone, NC with her spouse, AJ. Jane enjoys hiking, reading, cooking and is currently perfecting her shrimp and grits recipe for family and friends.
