A Season of Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it’s a great time to stop to take a breath and remember what we are thankful for.

Gratitude and community are the focus of Thanksgiving. Nonprofits can use these sentiments to focus on how they help those in the community and involve their donors in their mission as the holiday season begins.

Donors are at the top of that list of things your organization is thankful for. Everyone loves recognition and to know that they are appreciated and needed. A simple thank you letter to your donors goes a long way. Let your donors know how much you value and appreciate their donations. A message of gratitude with an update on all the great work your organization is doing reminds your donors that they are an essential part of your organization.   Remind your donors they are part of your community.

During this Thanksgiving season, try to involve your donors in your organization’s special community.

Consider a community gathering that donors can attend or send out material that introduces your organization’s team. This time of year is a great time to get your loyal donors to invite new members and show them how they can be a part of your organization. When you plan holiday activities, think about how best to involve your donors. Their involvement enriches their holiday season and your organization’s.

Donors, above all else, need to know how thankful you are for their involvement. Take advantage of this holiday to not focus on donations, but instead, fostering relationships and showing your organization’s gratitude.
